I’ve been neglecting my riding just as much as I’ve been neglecting my blog. I was ahead of the pace I needed to reach my mileage goal of 5,500 miles last year, so I eased off a lot at the end of the year. I rode 412 miles in November, then just 260 miles in December, to end up with 5,512 miles for the year.
It got worse this year. It was a combination of work, cold and wet weather, and a nasty bug I got in January. January’s mileage total of 170 miles is the lowest I’ve had in a month in a long time. With rain in the forecast for the next two days, today’s 40 mile ride will likely be my last ride in February, giving me 368 miles for the month. That’s a lot better than January, but really puts me far behind the pace I need to ride another 5,500 miles in 2018. We’ll see how it goes.
